“Dear all,
I would like to thank the village once again for its generosity towards the RNLI. My recent door-to-door collection around the village raised £220.64 for the Lifeboats. My fellow fund raisers were also out in other local villages in the same period in June and, together, we raised £1276.
The RNLI neither asks for nor gets any Government support, preferring to be master of its own destiny (imagine – if Government funded, the RNLI would probably be closing stations now, like the Coastguards have been forced to). The organisation costs around £140M per year to run and it is through the generosity of many individuals like yourselves throughout the UK that this remains possible.
Best wishes,
Jeremy Retford,
4 Kingsmeadow”
